Apostles Creed Recording Project
At my church we are in a series that is taking us bit by bit through the Apostles Creed. One of the goals for the church is that we would memorize the Creed. So I have decided to write a song to help with the memorization of it. This is not supposed to be the next great worship anthem, it’s simply a song to help us memorize the Apostles Creed. I’ve already got it memorized, challenge me to recite it the next time you see me.
I’m going to post at each major stage of the recording process so you can see how a recording comes together. Here is the first stage: acoustic guitar and lead vocals with no effects. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Scopetastic: The Sequel
Well I saw the ENT on Tuesday and he scoped me again. He said that I am showing major improvement but my vocal chords are not quite as white as he would like to see them. Prognosis is good but I still have to continue my training or I may end up back in the position I was in in October. Here is the scope below. I’ll try to put up a comparison between the two scopes later.
A Devotional from Tommy Walker
When the children of Israel were on their journey through the desert to the Promised Land, God provided fresh manna for them every day. There were times when they wanted to hold on to yesterday’s manna, but it would always spoil and make them sick.
The same is true for us in our walk with God today. We many times try to live off of the blessings we received from God yesterday, but they will never do. We need fresh bread every day. Jesus taught us to pray: “Give us this day our daily bread.”
We must earnestly seek the Lord for that fresh revelation, touch and blessing that He has for us today!
A Call to Evangelism (from an Atheist!)
I stumbled upon this video today and WOW! It starts out kind of slow but it’s really powerful stuff. Hang in there:)

Worshiping the Triune God
Scripture tells us that the one true God exists in three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who are equally and eternally the one God. He is Three in One, or triune. We see something of the centrality of the Trinity in worship from Ephesians 2:18, which says: “For through [Jesus] we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.” This passage implies that Christian worship is defined and enabled by the triune God. John 4:24 implies something similar. God the Father brings us into relationship with himself through the redeeming work of his Son, and applies that work to our hearts and lives by his Spirit.
“Father” isn’t a term we invented to describe God’s relationship to us. God has been the Father of Jesus for all eternity. And we don’t interpret God’s fatherhood through experiences we’ve had with our own father, whether good, bad, or non-existent. We derive our understanding of what fatherhood is from God himself ( Ephesians 3:14-15). God’s Word makes it clear that the Father is worthy of our worship ( Philippians 4:20).
We come to the Father through the Son because he is the one mediator between us and God ( 1 Timothy 2:5). He came to live a perfect life, to receive the judgment against our sins that we deserved, and and to rise victoriously from the dead. Jesus is the perfect mediator because only he is both fully God and fully Man. As God, he can completely bear God’s wrath against our sin. As one of us, he is able to serve as our substitute both in his perfect obedience and in atoning sacrifice. Because he is God he is worthy of our worship, and the Father is glorified as we honor the Son ( Philippians 2:9-11).
We come to the Father in the Spirit because the Spirit draws our hearts to Christ, to the Father, and to one another ( 1 Corinthians 12:3; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 2:22). The Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, enables us to participate truly in the relationships of the Trinity, for our good and the glory of God. While the Holy Spirit is worthy of worship as God, his primary role is to magnify the Son for the glory of the Father, and to reveal God’s presence to us.
I’m hoping to buy one or more of Bruce Ware’s books on the Trinity. I find it interesting that there are really no worship songs that help us understand the Trinity. So if you are a lyric writer I would encourage we begin to find a poetic/lyrical way of communicating a sound theology of the Trinity.
Band on the Run
This video is from the WorshipGod08 conference. Bob Kauflin is the writer of the Worship Matters blog he is also the author of a book I am reading also titled Worship Matters. This is great stuff, especially for those who are instrumentalists. There are also some powerful worship concepts. It’s about 75 min long.

The Freedom Blog
Well initially I had great intentions of posting something everyday. But I have decided that a more appropriate goal is every other day. If I have more I will share. I had planned to begin that last week but I got really sick so it kind of ruined that opportunity. Also I want to begin to answer questions. Right now I’m pretty familiar with every one of my readers but I still want to answer peoples questions about worship so… there will be a permanent page on this blog where you can submit questions and I will post the answer.
An update on my voice
Well I saw the ENT yesterday and the good news is that I have no nodules on my vocal cords. The bad news is I have to go through Vocal Rehab (for lack of a better term). I also have to stop drinking soda, I have to drink at least 4 liters of water a day and I have to stop clearing my throat. Apparently, clearing your throat is one of the worst things to do to your vocal cords.
Here is the raw video of the scope they did on my throat. The vocal cords are supposed to be white, mine are dark pink. (nose hairs in video are smaller then they appear.)
